The opportunity:
Join the Smurfit Westrock Fiber Supply Accounting team as an Accountant at our corporate office. This role requires a hybrid work schedule, with at least three days per week onsite and two days working remotely. You will report to the Accounting Manager and collaborate with divisional, corporate, and business unit personnel, as well as third-party IT developers and other internal customers.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Execute month-end close procedures.
- Create, analyze, and input journal entries into the JD Edwards accounting system.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Validate, value, and reconcile physical inventory.
- Prepare and review financial analyses on balance sheet accounts and P&L.
- Contribute consistently to system replacement projects through meetings, user acceptance testing, and end-user support.
- Thrive in a dynamic environment with stringent deadlines.
- Undertake special accounting projects as assigned.
- Provide expertise and assistance in continuous improvement processes to enhance transactional processing.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and GAAP for a robust internal control environment.
- Support the Accounting Management team in the month-end process and account code setup in the LIMS procurement system.
- Possess full knowledge of the LIMS procurement system and Weigh Wiz scale system, understanding their impact on plant accounting.
- Assist business unit personnel and troubleshoot LIMS-related processes to ensure accurate accounting impact.
- Fully understand the month-end inventory closing process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical mindset and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams in various locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools, with advanced Excel skills required.
- Demonstrated understanding of GAAP.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with systems navigation.
- Experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion, and LIMS is a plus.
