The Opportunity:

Smurfit Westrock’s pulp and paper mill located in Longview, WA is actively seeking to fill a Vibration Analyst Certified Level II or III position. The right candidate has a proven record of performance, and in previous jobs, has demonstrated the drive to achieve and move up. Ideal candidates initiate their own learning, get along well with others, and are helpful to co-workers. Candidates must handle the physical job requirements (heat, noise, shift work, work indoors or outdoors) and have the mechanical, numerical, and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quickly.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Troubleshoot machinery problems using various PdM Technologies: Ultra Sonic, Infrared Thermography, and Oil Analysis.
  • Perform precision rotating shaft alignments; filed dynamic balancing of rotors and basic machine troubleshooting.
  • Collect and analyze machine test data from one or more of the PdM Technologies listed above, preparation of detailed machinery condition assessment reports and communicate with internal customers.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Supervisors and Reliability Engineers, assist with machinery decisions related to equipment’s fitness for service, shop repair procedures and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Design and prepare machinery test databases and refine the settings and diagnostic criteria based on test results and analysis.
  • Perform and/or assist in the performance of online vibration monitoring system specification, installation, commissioning, and subsequent system monitoring and maintenance.
  • Document Work via electronic device (i.e.PDA, Cell Phone, Tablet) using Route Based Software packages.
  • Attend training and seminars as necessary to maintain Vibration Analyst Level II certification. May require travel.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

  • Must be a certified category II or III Vibration Analyst.
  • Must be a Journeyman Millwright and/or have at least 3 years hands-on mechanical/electrical maintenance repair/rebuild experience with industrial equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, etc.).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of moving and rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, etc. from an operations and maintenance perspective, mechanically and electrically.
  • Previous RCM/PdM experience to include one or more of the following: Experience and proficiency with AMS Suite Machinery Health Manager Software, CSI 2140 Vibration data collectors, CSI 4500/6500 online monitoring systems.
  • Experience/Certified in Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing
  • Experience/Certified in Tribology
  • Experience/Certified in Thermography
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials.
  • Effective written, verbal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately perform repetitive tasks.
  • Possess the appropriate body coordination with or without reasonable accommodation to do the following for extended periods of time: climb ladders, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and tight corridors as well as work closely around moving, rotating, electrically energized and elevated equipment.

The selection process Compensation Offered

  • Starting wage of $46.39/hour.
