JOB SUMMARY for Digital Plant Superintendent
Directs production, distribution, maintenance, receiving, and supervision operations for the manufacture of corrugated products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Leads all departments in the plant with department supervisors to maintain safety, quality, and efficient production.
- Coordinates production, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and established procedures.
- Develops and implements plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
- Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of plant.
- Effective use of all resources in production, including raw materials, labor, time, energy and utilities.
- Create measures where needed to verify this efficiency with development and implementation of action plans for continuous improvement.
- Manage all operating expenses associated with product manufactured, including but not limited to all operating equipment, maintenance expenses and direct and indirect production labor.
- Directs preparation of production, human resources and labor/costs records.
- Works with Plant Manager on plant budgets that go to Executive Management.
- Assists management in negotiation of employee hiring process.
- Maintains positive working relationship with all departments.
- Systematically reviews financial performance of the plant to recommend to management opportunities for sales growth and cost savings.
- Coordinates with Quality Manager for plant safety, environmental and training activities in cooperation with the Human Resources.
- Ensure the establishment of productivity and performance goals of the department. KPI logging and incentives.
- Updates Manning list on a weekly basis.
- Ensures the training matrix is kept up to date.
- Works with HR to follow up on all employee injuries and ensures all work restrictions are followed.
- Coordinates PR meetings with supervisors.
- Train, coach and develop supervisors and all hourly production employees.
- Develop and maintain production operating and training procedures.
- Troubleshoot operational problems.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for plants success in maintaining all certifications such as ISO and Food Safety.
- Attendance is an essential function of the position.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required
- High School Diploma, equivalent or combination of education and experience.
- 5 years as a Superintendent or Shift Superintendent
- 10 years corrugated manufacturing experience.
- Worked in manufacturing environment
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years digital print experience
