Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is seeking qualified professionals to consider for their Quality Manager opportunity. The individual selected will manage all aspects of quality for the consumer products manufactured at this location, including conformance to specifications and identifying and addressing any gaps in quality. This opportunity is located at Georgia Pacific’s Plattsburgh facility located in Plattsburgh, New York.

The individual in this position will provide strategic leadership for the Quality Management System and deliver Key Value Drivers by executing the Manufacturing Quality Control Plan for products produced at this facility. The core responsibilities are to be a working quality subject matter expert able to coach, guide and direct others to improve quality performance. Additionally, this role requires strong leadership, communication and change management skills.

Plattsburgh is located on Lake Champlain in the northeast part of New York State about 20 miles south of the Canadian Border. To the west of Plattsburgh sits 6.1 million acres of land called the Adirondack Park which contains the famous Adirondack Mountains. There are over one hundred summits, ranging from under 1,200 to over 5,000 feet in altitude. Hiking the 46 Adirondack High Peaks is recognized as one of the greatest challenges in the Adirondack Park. Plattsburgh is also located adjacent to a major North/South Interstate 87 highway that runs north on a direct route to Montreal, Canada and south to New York City (where over 50M people live within 400 miles of the Plattsburgh facility).

What You Will Do

  • Demonstrate leadership through active participation in facility Safety initiatives
  • Work with Manufacturing, R&D and the Corporate Quality teams to ensure that product specifications meet consumer/customer needs while matching manufacturing capability
  • Provide leadership and coaching to employees through a shared Quality vision for the operation
  • Work with a team to manage our Product Stewardship Compliance System for the site, coordinate commercialization activities; as well as other quality focused initiatives
  • Facilitate trials related to quality improvement, new product commercialization, cost saving initiatives and reduction of variation in process and product quality
  • Conduct quality reviews with product systems and track performance against key action plans
  • Develop and manage a voice of the customer process that collects and processes customer feedback in order to drive a deep understanding of customers’ current and future needs
  • Facilitate RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of customer complaints and manufacturing waste
  • Create long term value through an effective Quality Management System that consistently produces first quality products and improves facility competitive position
  • Lead product / process analyses or other product risk assessments and quality process deployments to proactively seek out and manage performance risk
  • Ensure functioning audit systems periodically assess procedures for both conformance to expectations and overall effectiveness
  • Facilitate resolution to raw material quality issues


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 2 or more years of experience within a quality assurance, engineering, or process role within a manufacturing operation
  • 2 or more years of experience in a continuous process, manufacturing/industrial work environment
  • Experience with interpreting data, presenting scientific information in a clear, concise format understood by a variety of audiences, and compiling data in various analytical formats.
  • Experience in applying the RCA (root cause analysis) process


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Quality Management or Engineering
  • Experience with high-speed converting systems
  • Experience with GFSI - Global Food Safety Initiative/SQF – Safe Quality Food Certifications
  • Six-Sigma certification or affiliation with a professional quality organization.
  • Experience in a supervisory role managing performance of a group or individuals
  • Product safety practitioner experience and/or certification

For this role, we anticipate paying $80k to $100k annually.
