Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will manage various aspects of the employee lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, employee relations, and benefits administration, with a focus on supporting all HR related aspects of Alsip MiniMill. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and growing organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, engagement initiatives, and exit interviews.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all Union Related matters. 
  • Serve as the primary contact for managers, employees, and corporate HR on HR-related matters.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, wellness plans, and disability insurance.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws by administering HR reports and records.
  • Supervise, mentor and support HR staff. 
  • Coordinate employee leaves and absences with supervisors, corporate HR, and third-party administrators.
  • Support workers’ compensation processes in collaboration with the Corporate Safety Department.
  • Implement and communicate company policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Maintain and update personnel files in HRIS (UltiPro/UKG experience preferred).
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees and supervisors.
  • Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a Union Manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience with Union contract negotiations, arbitration and working within a union contract. 
  • HR certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP) are a plus.
  • At least 8 years of HR Generalist experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and HRIS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and interact with all shifts.
  • Ability to work on site 5 days per week. 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working on a computer.
  • Ability to walk, talk, hear, and reach vertically and horizontally with hands and arms.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing areas, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
