SUMMARY

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical components of production machines and plant equipment, perform general maintenance of building and facility property. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a safe manner following ALL company safety rules and procedures. Actively support a safe working environment and correct any unsafe conditions or actions as they are found.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems on production equipment. Follow all LOTO procedures.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints.
  • Installation of conduit and wiring for machine control and for equipment installations and moves in accordance with NEC codes. 
  • Cutting, threading, bending, and installing pneumatic, water, glycol, resin, and hydraulic lines including black iron, galvanized, copper, stainless steel, PVC, PEX, and flexible braid.
  • Test, inspect and repair AC, DC, servo, and stepping motors and drives.
  • Inspect and maintain nitrogen and chemical process lines.
  • Maintain, inspect and calibrate equipment using test and measuring devices: multimeter, amp meter, dial indicator, micrometer, dial calipers and gauges.
  • Perform general building and grounds maintenance, maintaining plumbing, electrical systems, cleaning, painting, rubbish removal, light replacement, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems and repair problems not associated with the compressor or Freon.
  • Work closely with shift supervisors and plant management to achieve a safe environment, a quality product, and to facilitate the production process.  
  • Understanding of the basics of computer networking and server/client relationships. Ability to install CAT6E wiring, test, and terminate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BASIC SKILLS: Electrical, mechanical, general hydraulic and pneumatic operational knowledge and the ability to use power tools is needed. Using a DVM for electrical troubleshooting. The ability to troubleshoot and repair problems in a timely and safe manner.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 6 – 8 years of related experience is required. College or technical school education is preferred.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and procedure manuals. 
    • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. 
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with all employees, customers and vendors.
    • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Good working knowledge of Electrical equations.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Understanding of PLC controls and logic as well as basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft products are required. The ability to learn and become proficient in other computer programs is necessary.  
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
